Ursula Vows to Protect Taiwan – Trump Vows to Charge Them for Protection

Leyen Ursula von der

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen has vowed to support Taiwan in securing impudence from China if re-elected. “The Indo-Pacific has become a decisive region for the world’s future,” she noted, stating that Europe will work with South Korea, Japan, Australia, and New Zealand to protect Taiwan.

“This includes our collective efforts to deploy the full range of our combined statecraft to deter China from unilaterally changing the status quo by military means, particularly over Taiwan,” the EC president declared. She noted that China’s spending on military defenses rose by nearly 600% since 2019, while the European Union has only increased spending by 20%. Europe has already begun taxing the people heavily to pay for wars that they are not yet involved in. Europe was already amid a sovereign debt crisis, and these ongoing wars only deepened the situation and flame the fans of inflation.

Former President Donald Trump does not agree with allied nation spending on Taiwan or Ukraine. I think Taiwan should pay us for defense,” Trump said in the interview published earlier in the week. “You know, we’re no different than an insurance company. Taiwan doesn’t give us anything.” The former president reminded the public that China is a mere 68 miles from Taiwan, with the US safely sitting 9,500 miles away. He mentioned similar sentiments regarding Ukraine’s proximity for the US. The US is providing more funding for these wars than any other nation but has the least risk involved in terms of warfare.

Now, the media is saying that all nations must comply with Taiwan’s demands, or the tech sector will suffer as Taiwan produces 60% of the world’s semiconductors and 92% of advanced semiconductors. Yet, Taiwan would have no chance in a war against China without allied help. The same could be said for Ukraine who would have lost the war years ago, preventing countless deaths, had there not been western interference.

Biden passed the CHIPS and Science Act in 2022 which provided $39 billion in funding to encourage companies to produce semiconductors in America. The problem is that his other policies have caused businesses to flee. Manufacturing in general has been steadily declining as businesses leave the United States in favor of tax havens like Mexico. The Semiconductor Industry Association believes America will corner 14% of the chip market share by 2032, which is only a 4% uptick from current production levels. Far more needs to be done to attract investment and manufacturing at home.

Semiconductor chips alone is a poor reason to wage war against China. China has been unrelenting on its stance to unifying China by reclaiming territories in a “peaceful” manner. Ursula von der Leyen is once again putting Europe and the European people LAST. A war against China would lead to countless deaths, a forever-changed economic landscape, and endless suffering for the people of both Europe and China.
