Hungary’s battle with the European Union is worsening by the day. The European Court of Justice threatened Budapest with a €200 million fine for failing to take in migrants. Viktor Orban is not only refusing to pay the fine, but he would like to begin bussing migrants from Hungary directly to Brussels.
“In terms of the announcements made by the Hungarian authorities that they would transport irregular migrants from the Hungarian Serbian borders to Brussels, in one word, basically, it is unacceptable,” a Commission spokesperson said. “This action, if carried out, would be in clear breach of the EU law, but also it would be in clear breach of the principle of sincere and loyal cooperation, but also of the mutual trust. In addition, it will also undermine the security of the Schengen area as a whole.”
So, the unknown and unvetted individuals would undermine the security of the Schengen area if bussed to Brussels, but the commission is not concerned with the migrants entering independent member states. There are now discussions of member states implementing border checks throughout the Schengen Area which completely dissolves the premise of free movement within the region. The migrant crisis could very well mark the end of the entire Schengen Area agreement as Brussels insist that EU citizens turn a blind eye to the millions of people pouring into their borders.
The original Schengen Agreement was signed on June 14, 1985, by Belgium, France, West Germany, Luxembourg, and the Netherlands. The original goal was to allow Europeans the ability to freely move about Europe without border checks or visas. The Schengen Area became functional in 1995 and has now expanded to 27 nations, covering a distance of 4 million square kilometers and permitting the freedom of movement of 420 million Europeans.
Brussels wrongly believed all members would blindly agree to coordinated asylum policies. However, leaders like Orban strongly oppose these measures and refuse to budge regardless of the penalties. Europe has witnessed their population alter entirely in recent years under open border policies that are completely destroying each nation’s traditions and culture, not to mention budgets as there is no way any nation can provide full government assistance to endless newcomers. “It seems that illegal migrants are more important to the Brussels bureaucrats than their own European citizens,” Orban said in June when the ECJ ruled Hungary committed “unprecedented and exceptionally serious breach of EU law” for securing its border.
This morning's announcement is a provocation that contradicts European obligations.

Belgium has said that it would not grant bussed migrants asylum, as those in charge do not actually care about the people. Orban is showing incredible leadership by defying the globalists in Brussels and prioritizing the national security of Hungary. Yet, his unwillingness to kneel will come at a price. One can hope other European leaders will act in solidarity and also demand tighter border security, but once each nation begins to demand self-defense, we likely will see the end of the Schengen Area.
