The Supreme Court has ruled that President Joe Biden’s student loan forgiveness program cannot move forward, which would have resulted in up to $10,000 of federal student loan debt being forgiven for individual borrowers who earned less than $125,000 in either 2020 or 2021 and married couples or heads of households who made less than $250,000 annually in those years. The program has faced opposition from conservatives and members of Biden’s own party. Student loan debt in America has now reached $1.8 trillion.
