As inflation eases, a new risk is emerging in the US economy due to a divide between fiscal and monetary policy, according to the National Association of Business Economics (NABE). The divide is increasingly worrying economists, with concerns about monetary policy being ‘too restrictive’ and fiscal policy being ‘too stimulative.’ Fifty-seven percent of economists believe that current fiscal policy is “too stimulative,” up from 54% in August. They see reducing the deficit and debt as crucial for promoting “medium-to-long-term growth.”
