ABC Lied About Abortion During Debate

ABC lost all journalistic credibility after the Harris v Trump debate. The viewers could obviously tell who the moderators were voting for, and the entire spectacle became a three v. one showdown. The moderators repeatedly fact-checked Donald Trump but permitted Kamala Harris to state long-rebuked fake news stories, such as claiming Trump would ban IVF treatments and the “fine people” and “bloodbath” comments. Abortion has become a major issue for the crucial undecided voter, and the moderators patronized Trump for being untruthful after claiming certain states had no limits on when a fetus could be terminated. ABC’s own charting shows that they knew their claims were a lie.

According to ABC, ten states have no restrictions based on gestational duration. “Nowhere in America is a woman carrying a pregnancy to term and asking for an abortion,” Harris said to the approval of the moderators. “That is not happening. It’s insulting to the women of America.” Although less than 1% of abortions occur after 21 weeks of pregnancy, over 6,250 late-term abortions took place in 2021.

Harris refused to answer whether she supported abortions during the third trimester. Harris co-sponsored the “Women’s Health Protection Act of 2019,” which permits unrestricted abortions. The issue that prevails is whether unborn babies have rights. If an expectant mother is murdered, will the criminal be charged with double homicide? Are there any protections for the lives of unborn children?

Now, Trump said that former Governor Ralph Northam of Virgina claimed that doctors were executing babies after birth. Trump was referencing a 2019 interview in which Northam said: “If a mother is in labor, I can tell you exactly what would happen,” Northam said. “The infant would be delivered, the infant would be kept comfortable, the infant would be resuscitated if that’s what the mother and the family desired. And then a discussion would ensue between the physicians and the mother.” Context is important as he was referencing a hypothetical scenario in which the baby was born with severe defects.

Donald Trump is not attempting to ban abortions nor did the Supreme Court permit an outright abortion ban. Overturning Roe v. Wade provides the people with the option to vote on what they find acceptable. America is a large nation with a vast difference in ideology. Those in the Bible Belt will not have the same views as those living in blue strongholds.

Do the Democrats have a radical view on abortion? It depends on who you ask, but the left has certainly been promoting quick and easy access to pregnancy termination. We saw the Democratic National Convention permit Planned Parenthood to drive around performing on-site abortions. Federally funded Planned Parenthood has even partnered with dating apps such as Tinder to promote this medical procedure that is supposed to be between a woman and her doctor. Harris would likely support abortions during the ninth month based on her history. ABC News lied to the American people, and it is no surprise that there will not be a third debate.
